Hereson Family and Community Centre
Negotiations began in 1999 with Kent County Council to develop part of the old Hereson school site. With the added support of Government Office for the South East and the European Commission, the Trust was able to build the new Family and Community Centre.
The Centre provides family and children’s services with consultation rooms, offices, meeting rooms and facilities for a crèche and play area in the garden for children. Kent County Council operates some services from the Centre, while the National Children's homes runs the children’s services and the Trust works with the community and provides training facilities.
The Hereson Family and Community Centre will be a focal point for the residents of Ramsgate and will make a big impact through the services provided, creating more jobs in the area.
Meeting Rooms
The Hereson Centre offers up to date facilities with a choice of meeting rooms, an IT suite and community library.
There are three meeting rooms which accommodate from 4 – 20 people. An IT suite is also available with eight fully networked laptops which can be incorporated into the large meeting room or divided to provide separate training/meeting rooms. All the rooms are available for hire and refreshments can be arranged from tea/coffee to buffet lunches. For information regarding prices and booking, contact 01843 282470 or use the contact form.
Community Library
The library is an excellent opportunity for all voluntary organisations, residents and businesses to access a wide variety of training manuals and community development publications to assist on subjects ranging from Adult Education, Training, Personal Development, Communication, The Arts, General Interest, Funding and Voluntary Work.
The Ramsgate Round Table donated over £1200 to buy the books and other equipment, which will provide information on skills development, further education and careers, to link in with the new learndirect Centre that has also just started delivering training from the Centre.
learndirect centre
The new learndirect centre offers a wide range of courses, many of which lead to nationally recognised qualifications. The courses are flexible so they fit around your lifestyle, no matter how busy you are. You can learn at your own pace either at the Centre or at home in your own time and there is always the support of our experienced staff on hand to help you.
All the courses we run from the Centre are subsidised by the government and most are free to eligible learners. Click here for more details.
