The Academy
The Academy, based in the heart of Cliftonville in Thanet, offers people living in the local community the opportunity to learn to help themselves on their own doorstep. After a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant of £139,028, the former bed and breakfast accommodation was completely renovated, with full disabled access, to include
The grant has enabled the centre to offer office facilities, meeting rooms and a fully equipped computer training room for the local community.
The ERDF Objective 2 Scheme helps to develop the capabilities of individuals and groups from the deprived areas of Thanet, enabling them to access opportunities for training, volunteering and employment. The Academy provides an environment for people to acquire skills and competences to enable them to create solutions to local problems. All these things help people to overcome the barriers that stop them from playing a full part in economic, social and community activities.
